A Comparative Effect of Cyclic Meditation and Mind Sound Resonance Technique on Anxiety Reduction and Quality of Life Improvement in the General Population

Year: 2025
Type: article
Study design: Clinical Trial
Abstract: Background: Anxiety is marked by tension, worried thoughts, and physical changes such as increased blood pressure. Patients with anxiety often experience lower quality of life (QoL), especially in areas such as friendships, self-esteem, and family dynamics. Meditation has been shown to effectively reduce anxiety and enhance QoL. Aim: The aim of this study was to compare the effects of cyclic meditation (CM) and mind sound resonance technique (MSRT) on anxiety and QoL. Materials and Methods: Ethical clearance was obtained from the institution, and informed consent was secured from all participants. In this randomized comparative study, 60 participants were selected based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria and randomly assigned to two groups: Group A and Group B. Group A received CM, whereas Group B practiced the MSRT for 4 weeks. Participants were assessed for anxiety using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale and for QoL using the QoL scale both before and after the intervention. Results: Data were analyzed using the JASP statistical package (version 0.16.4). The results revealed that both CM and MSRT were significantly effective in reducing anxiety and enhancing QoL. Conclusion: This study determined that guided practices such as CM and MSRT are safe and beneficial for alleviating anxiety and enhancing the QoL in the general population.
