Analysis of GNSS Signal Correlation in Terrestrial Vehicles

Abstract: This paper deals with the analysis of the distortion of the correlation functions in real vehicular scenarios. A multicorrelator GNSS receiver is used to process the data collected in urban and rural environments. Two methods are proposed to evaluate the distortion of the correlation functions due to the presence of multipath. The first one consists of analyzing the error of the estimated correlation functions and the second one is based on estimating the multipath signals by implementing a Non-linear Least Squares (NLS) algorithm. The paper determines the number of reflected signals and assesses the differences and similarities between both scenarios.
