Abstract: The article raises the issue of understanding security in selected contemporary Russian geopolitical theories. The subject of the analysis is the neo-Eurasianist doctrine, the concept of Vadim Tsymbursky’s Island Russia; geoeconomic conceptions; the patriotic geopolitics of General Leonid Ivashov, surprisingly critical about the Kremlin’s policies, especially about the invasion of Ukraine; the considerations of Mikhail Deliagin and the evolving views of Sergei Karaganov, who ultimately aimed at a nuclear attack on targets in Europe. A review of these concepts indicates that we are dealing with views that make different diagnoses and therefore lead to different recommendations.
