Abstract: Compound meta-optics enable advanced functionality yet suffer from Fresnel losses and low mode confinement. Here, using an innovative two-step lithography process, the authors introduce bilayer metasurfaces made of freestanding titania meta-atoms, enabling geometric phase control on linearly polarized light with 80% efficiency in the visible.
