Year: 2024
Type: article
Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: The work is devoted to the objective assessment of affective disorders in patients whounderwent thrombectomy for thrombotic occlusion in the early postoperative period.During 2023—2024, a prospective study of 96 patients who underwent thrombectomy forthrombotic occlusion was conducted at the Center for Roentgen Endovascular Neurosurgeryof the Kyiv City Clinical Hospital No. 1 (Kyiv, Ukraine). The determination of the features of theaffective sphere took place 7 days after surgical intervention for the extraction of thromboticocclusion using The Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS), The Hamilton Depression RatingScale (HDRS) and Young Mania Rating Scale (YMRS); the results obtained in this way werecompared with the anamnesis data and the assessment of stroke severity using the NIHSSand ASPECTS scales. The spectrum and severity of affective disorders in the selected contingent of patients wereobjectified, in particular, it was determined that they are characterized by moderate and severemanifestations of anxiety and depression, low rates of manic symptoms, mixed (atypical) affective states, and a relative rarity of complaints about their emotional state, which is due, firstly,to the inability to adequately assess their own condition independently and, secondly, to theshort period from the brain accident to the assessment of the affective sphere. The cohort of patients who underwent thrombectomy for thrombotic occlusion has a numberof features that determine specific mechanisms for the formation of secondary mental disordersand determine the relevance of further research.
