Key Trends in the Development of Modern Criminal Procedure Science in the Works of Professor I.V. Smolkova

Abstract: Each branch of science, and criminal procedure is no exception, has a pleiad of eminent scientists who have been contributing to its development for many years. An outstanding representative of criminal procedure science is Doctor of Law, Professor, Honored Lawyer of the Russian Federation Iraida Vyacheslavovna Smolkova, who all her life has been working on the scientific understanding of the clauses of not only criminal procedure law, but also criminal law, as well as the criminalistic support of solving, investigating and preventing crimes. Some research works of Professor I.V. Smolkova discuss topical trends of improving criminal procedure legislation, which should be recognized as a contribution to the development of criminal procedure science. It is beyond doubt that I.V. Smolkova has made an invaluable contribution to the theory of criminal process, developed a colossal number of theoretical and practical clauses relevant for both legal regulation and the practice of law enforcement. The works of this scientist deserve the attention of university students, scientists and law enforcement workers.
