Abstract: This contribution presents the experience of the Future Shock Orchestra, an interfaculty laboratory on instrument invention and augmentation developed collaboratively by the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp and the Design Faculty of the University of Antwerp. Designed by a diverse team of tutors for bachelor’s and master’s students from both institutions, the project aims to reflect on and challenge our understanding of instrumentality from technological and aesthetic perspectives rooted in the present day.
