Abstract: Background: Nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome (NBCCS), or Gorlin syndrome (GS), is an autosomal dominant disorder caused by abnormalities in the sonic hedgehog signaling pathway and characterized by multiple basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) that usually develop at a young age. Treatment of the BCCs can be challenging, and Hedgehog pathway inhibitors (HPI) are a promising therapeutic strategy when surgery or other treatments are not a suitable option.
