Applicability of 3D Total Body Photography and machine learning tools to estimate body surface involvement and neurocutaneous melanosis risk in giant and large congenital melanocytic nevi patients
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Background: Large/giant congenital melanocytic nevi patients (LG-CMN) vary significantly and potential severe complications, such as neurocutaneous melanosis and melanoma development, are associated with larger size and presence of multiple CMN. Today, morphological classification is still lacking reproducibility and there is no quantifiable tools to predict complications. Objective: To evaluate the applicability of VECTRA® WB360 3D imaging system to improve phenotyping of LG-CMN patients by quantifying percentage of body surface area (%BSA) involved by the main nevus and total CMN (satellites) associated.
