Abstract: Background: Line-field confocal optical coherence tomography (LC-OCT) provides in vivo, cellular-resolution imaging of melanocytic lesions. To date, no publications have reported an association between cellular discohesion, forming clefts (“clefting”), and malignancy in melanocytic lesions using in vivo imaging methods such as reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) or LC-OCT. This study aims to describe the clefting phenomenon in melanocytic lesions and correlate this feature with histopathological findings.[1][2]
