A Case of Rhabdomyosarcoma Arising in a Giant Congenital Melanocytic Nevus: Focus on Differential Diagnosis

Year: 2025
Type: article
Study design: Case Report
Abstract: Background: Giant congenital melanocytic nevi (CMNs) are rare, disfiguring lesions with a significant potential for malignant transformation. Melanoma is the most common malignancy associated with giant CMNs. While exceedingly rare, other malignant tumors, such as mesenchymal neoplasms like rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS), may also develop in conjunction with giant CMNs. This report presents a case of progressive metastatic RMS originating from a giant CMN in a 19-year-old female, who presented with ipsilateral inguinal lymph node metastases.
