Evaluation of the applicability of immunohistochemical expression of Ki-67 as a prognostic factor in cutaneous melanoma
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Background: Despite advances in diagnosis and clinical management, prognostic stratification in melanoma still faces significant challenges. Melanoma accounts for only 1% of skin cancers but is among the most lethal. Prognostic factors such as Breslow thickness and ulceration are established; however, they leave gaps in predicting outcomes. Ki-67, a nuclear protein indicating cell proliferation, has shown potential as a prognostic marker in several neoplasms, but its role in melanoma remains uncertain and underutilized in clinical practice.
