A participação das mulheres negras no ensino profissionalizante e no mercado de trabalho: aspectos e desafios

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This article aims to analyze some aspects and challenges regarding the participation of black women in professional education and the labor market. In order to understand if and how they are experiencing entry and persistence in technical schools and Federal Institutes (IFs), and consequently, in the labor market, we conducted a bibliographic research on the topic using the keywords: black women, professional education, IFs, and labor market. Through the study, it is possible to observe that black women have been occupying these spaces primarily through their engagement in struggles and the achievements gained by social movements. Professional education can be considered, in the trajectories of these women, as a possibility to qualify themselves in order to improve their material and subjective living conditions. However, to do so, they face numerous difficulties regarding persistence, due to socioeconomic conditions, situations of discrimination, and violence experienced in both the school and work environments. Studies on the subject highlight the importance of deepening the discussions, considering the unequal structure of professional and educational environments, the historical discriminatory construction related to class, gender, and race, and the current precarious labor market, in addition to the possible lack of research that takes into account the subjectivity of these women.
