Different Approaches of the Management of PCOS
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: A hormonal change which is caused by an inordinate amount of androgens released by the ovaries during the reproductive age is referring as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). PCOS symptoms comprise irregular periods, an overabundance of body and facial hair, acne, mood swings, weight gain, and pain. There are few statistics available on PCOS prevalence in India, with 3.7%–22.5% (1.3–7.9 crore) of women affected. Oral contraceptives are the mainstay of treatment, but complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) has come under increasing scrutiny in recent years. The studies that examined the effects of various forms of treatment on PCOS were all included in this review. A literature review indicated that there is a wealth of information supporting complementary and natural therapies to treat PCOS.
