Lessons learned from the COAST (Contemporary Outcomes After cutaneous SCC in Transplant recipients) study: management and outcomes following the first cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma in kidney transplant recipients
Year: 2025
Type: article
Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: Background: After first cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC), up to 75% of kidney transplant recipients (KTR) develop further CSCC with doubled metastatic risk compared to immunocompetent cohorts. Evidence is limited regarding secondary prevention strategies and their use by transplant and dermatology practitioners. To address this, we undertook a multicentre retrospective cohort study to evaluate contemporary management and outcomes after first CSCC in KTR.
