Abstract: Emergency rescue capability is a vital component of modern civic literacy. As the future backbone force of society, college students' proficiency in first aid knowledge and skills directly impacts the effectiveness of public safety emergency responses. This study employs questionnaire surveys and data analysis to systematically investigate the current status of college students' mastery of emergency rescue knowledge, practical skills, training needs, and sense of social responsibility. The study found that the current situation of first aid literacy among college students is characterized by significant differences in first-aid knowledge between disciplines, a persistent disconnect between knowledge acquisition and practical application in the existing education system, unequal resource allocation exacerbating competency gaps, and the inadequacy of current training models to meet diversified demands. The study suggests that pathways to enhancing college students' knowledge and competence in emergency rescue could be explored by optimizing the curriculum system, strengthening resource allocation, innovating training models, and establishing social linkage mechanisms.
