Digitalization of Algeria's immaterial cultural heritage: towards new strategies for valorization and safeguarding
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: : The digitization of cultural heritage can help prepare for future electronic platforms resulting from technological advances in storage and display. It consists of making cultural goods accessible to the general public. Digital accessibility is important as it helps to raise awareness of the forms that intangible cultural heritage takes locally, nationally and internationally. It can also contribute to ensuring the continuation of certain traditions, validating customs or traditions in a community, or even giving a second chance at life to a forgotten practice. The digitization of this cultural heritage is a way to produce backups that ensure that this more or less permanent heritage is transferred and preserved in another form. This virtual platform is an essential element for the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage, as it allows the public to access elements of heritage for free, without time or geographical restrictions, and accessible to all.
