Abstract: The article examines the features of the life-creation of the contemporary young Tatar poet Rifat Salah (Rifat Galievich Salakhov, born in 1987), which had an important influence on his self-reflection and led to the fact that he became one of the most famous and gifted Tatar poets, widely known both in the Republic of Tatarstan and abroad. The article reveals the circumstances under which he wrote his first poems, how he entered the literary community of the republic: for example, we are talking about his school poetry experiments, about getting a law degree, about Hajj and travels to eastern countries, about awarding him the Musa Jalil Prize. The features of Rifat Salah’s views on the nature of poetic creativity are also analyzed: it is shown that, from his point of view, a professional poet should be able to write poetry under any circumstances, but at the same time, real creativity is possible only in connection with acute emotional experiences. The peculiarities of the biography and views on the work of Rifat Salah can be traced on the material of interviews given by him in different years to various print and online media in the Tatar language. The novelty of the research lies in the fact that this material is summarized and presented in Russian for the first time, since before that the biography and work of Rifat Salah almost did not fall into the orbit of either Tatar-speaking or Russian-speaking literary studies.
