Integration of AI into Pharmaceutical Engineering Education: Achievements, Impact, and Future Prospects
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force across various industries, with particularly groundbreaking applications in the pharmaceutical sector. AI has reshaped traditional drug development processes, contributing to a shift from conventional "pharmaceutical manufacturing" to modern "intelligent pharmaceutical production." This paper explores the integration of AI into pharmaceutical engineering education and its positive effects on student development and industry readiness. By incorporating AI-related theories and practical applications into the curriculum, students not only gain foundational knowledge in AI but also develop skills for its real-world application in drug discovery, clinical research, and pharmaceutical manufacturing. The course employs a combination of case studies, lectures, and interactive learning to engage students in understanding how AI can improve efficiency and innovation in pharmaceutical processes. Results from recent years indicate significant achievements, with an increase in student participation in academic competitions, research projects, and patent applications. The integration of AI into the curriculum has enhanced students' research capabilities, fostered interdisciplinary thinking, and prepared them for the rapidly evolving pharmaceutical industry. Moving forward, expanding industry partnerships and incorporating innovative teaching tools such as virtual labs will further strengthen the practical skills of students and foster the development of future pharmaceutical engineers skilled in AI technology.
