Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: The article reveals replicas of photographic images of Bashkirs from the First Ethnographic Exhibition, created in the form of lithographs, black-and-white and color photographic illustrations, postcards and ethnographic albums. The sources for the research were images stored in the Russian Ethnographic Museum (St. Petersburg), the State Historical Museum (Moscow), the Smolensk State Museum-Reserve (Smolensk), the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan (Kazan), as well as published albums, sketches and postcards, right down to the candy wrappers. It has been established that copying scenes of life near the yurt, costumes, anthropological types, and household items contributed to the formation in society of the idea of the Bashkirs as a semi-nomadic people with their characteristic ethnocultural features of the central and southwestern groups of the Bashkir ethnic group. The authors of the replicas were T.A. Mitreiter, S.V Malyutin, N.F. Dobrovolsky, A.V Dokuchaev, F.P. Nesterov, K.A. Fischer and others. Images played a historical, informative, educational and artistic role.
