Type: article
Abstract: During the research 913 scientific publications downloaded from the Scopus database were analyzed, using the search keywords “Social protection” OR “Elderly” AND “COVID-19”. The results show that the number of published articles related to this topic increased in the period between 2020-2024. The most frequently discussed thematic network maps include topics such as: COVID-19, adult, age, pandemic, global health, culture, and coronavirus. Globally, there are several countries with collaborative networks in studying social protection for the elderly in the post pandemic, such as: the United States, South Africa, France, Singapore, China, Ghana, and Spain. Future recommendations are seen to expand the thematic network and collaborative network between countries, especially with developing countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The findings of this research is intended to be used as a reference for policymakers and researchers in designing research programs and formulating more comprehensive social protection policies. Recommendations for future research indicate the importance of expanding the study of contemporary issues and themes related to social protection for the elderly. Broader research can cover aspects such as mental health, economic resilience, and socio-cultural impacts, thus providing a comprehensive picture of the needs of the elderly.
