Design patterns for digital twins
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Digital twins are virtual counterparts of people, physical objects, processes or systems. They are models based on a very large amount of data about real objects and are used to remotely maintain, monitor, model and predict the behavior of the real object. The development of digital twins is an increasingly widespread practice and their implementation is expected in various spheres. The technologies used to create them are developing very intensively and dynamically. Therefore, the design and architecture of digital twins are not strictly defined, despite the popularity of their application. However, in different spheres, they are applied in different ways and this leads to different architectural solutions. The article examines a pattern-based architecture. For this purpose, design patterns and the possibilities of their use in the development of digital twins are considered.
