Abstract: Several researchers have attempted to find a suitable spectrum model for Indonesian waters, but there are inconsistencies in the application of theoretical spectrum formulas from one study to another. However, this is supposed to be due to the diverse geographical conditions in the archipelago. The study aims to examine the suitability of various theoretical spectrum models to obtain the best fit for the measured spectrum from surface profile measurement in the Seribu Islands. The initial step was to visually compare the plot results of different spectrum models. Subsequently, further identification of the conformity of the Pierson-Moskowitz (1964), JONSWAP (1973), and Torsethaugen (2004) spectrum shapes were carried out based on the coefficient of determination, RMSE, difference of peak frequencies, area of spectrum, and spectral peak level. This study found that the JONSWAP spectrum provided the best fit to the measured spectrum. Identification of JONSWAP spectrum key parameter values is presented by the cumulative distribution of the corresponding distribution functions. The lognormal, inverse-gaussian, and GEV distribution functions were found to correspond to the distribution of α (Philips constant). Meanwhile, the normal, lognormal, gamma, GEV, and Weibull distribution functions were found to be compatible with the distribution of γ (peak enhancement factor).
