Analysis of Operational Security of Key Hazards in the Węgrów County by National Firefighting and Rescue Systemunits – Case Study in Terms of the Spatial Organization of the Unit Network and the Quantitative Availability of Resources

Abstract: The aim of this article is to present the results of an analysis and an evaluation of the operationalsecurity status in relation to the most important hazards in Węgrów County, as assessed by units ofthe National Firefighting and Rescue System (NFRS) on the county area. The study was conducted in2024 in the Węgrów County, specifically in the town of Węgrów. The article examines the operationalsecurity status of the Węgrów County to verify the hypothesis formulated as follows: theimplementation of additional organizational solutions among NFRS units in the Węgrów Countywill enhance the level of operational security against the most significant hazards in the area. As partof the research, the capacity of NFRS entities operating in the Węgrów County was evaluated, hazardsoccurring on the county area were assessed and relevant assumptions were made. The major threatsin Węgrów County were identified and the operational protection capabilities of NFRS units in thecounty were simulated for these threats using the QGIS software. The results obtained confirmed thatthe research hypothesis was supported by the assessment.
