A Study on Telemedicine and Healthcare Access: Bridging the Rural- Urban Divide

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: By using digital health technology to bridge the gap between rural and urban populations, telemedicine is revolutionising healthcare accessibility. From early remote consultations to AI- driven diagnostics, mobile health apps, and real-time virtual care, this paper explores its development. Even though telemedicine has grown as a result of COVID-19 and the rise in chronic illnesses, issues such disparities in digital literacy, data protection, and regulatory differences still exist. The study investigates the ways in which government regulations, public- private partnerships, and cutting-edge technologies like blockchain, artificial intelligence, and 5G can promote the use of telemedicine. Telemedicine is influencing the future of effective and equitable healthcare delivery by lowering healthcare costs, enhancing access to specialists, and increasing mental health assistance.
