The fate of tuberculosis programmes without USAID
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: On March 28, 2025, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) was to be dissolved. The announcement hardly came as a surprise. Rubio had already placed the majority of USAID employees on administrative leave, shut down the agency’s website, terminated 5341 of its programmes, and moved oversight of the remaining 898 programmes to the State Department.
