Abstract: This special issue of Kinesiology Review examines the current state and future of tackle football. It aims to produce a rigorous collection of diverse articles that could inform how football will be organized, researched, and played in the coming decades. The present essay reflects on recent changes and controversies, the sport’s entrenched popularity, and the potential to leverage football—via the insights provided in the issue—to promote health, wellness, and social justice.
