Antibacterial and Photocatalytic activities of Green synthesized Silver nanoparticles
Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: Silver nanoparticles were synthesized from the aqueous leaf extract of Alternanthera Brasiliana (A. Brasiliana) and the presence of nanoparticles was confirmed using Ultraviolet-visible spectrum. This confirmation was supplemented by the instant colour change of the precursor to pale yellow. Various functional groups present in the nanoparticles were identified using FTIR spectrum which revealed the potential activity of the nanoparticles. The emission characteristics were studied using fluorescence spectroscopy and the nanoparticles exhibited a sharp emission at 473 nm. The green synthesized nanoparticles were found to be an effective catalyst for the degradation of aqueous solution of methylene blue, which is a dominant industrial effluent contaminating the natural water resources. These nanoparticles also exhibited antibacterial property against pathogenic microorganisms Escherichia Coli (E. Coli) and Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) which poses crucial risk in healthcare industry.
