Abstract: The study assesses the nutritional status of college-going hostel boarders in Durgapur, West Bengal, India focusing on dietary habits, lifestyle patterns, and their impact on overall health. The research was conducted through a structured survey, gathering data on meal consumption, food preferences, and nutrient intake. The findings indicate that while some students maintain balanced diets, a significant portion exhibit nutritional deficiencies due to irregular eating habits, reliance on processed foods, and inadequate intake of essential nutrients. The study highlights the prevalence of undernutrition and micronutrient imbalances, which could potentially impact students' academic performance and overall well-being. Additionally, lifestyle factors such as physical activity levels and sleep patterns were analyzed, revealing correlations between poor nutrition and reduced energy levels. The research underscores the importance of nutritional awareness and the need for improved dietary practices within hostel environments. It suggests interventions such as meal planning, dietary counseling, and policy recommendations to enhance food quality and accessibility. By addressing these concerns, the study aims to promote better health outcomes among college students, ensuring they receive adequate nutrition for optimal growth and cognitive function. Future research can expand on these findings by incorporating biochemical assessments and long-term dietary interventions.
