Abstract: The construction of Jatigede Reservoir in Sumedang Regency can have an impact on the loss of cultural identity and local history, including the toponymy of villages affected by the construction of Jatigede Reservoir. This study aims to analyze the word structure in the toponymy of the affected villages in order to understand the cultural identity of the local community. This research uses descriptive qualitative method with structural and semantic analysis on the names of villages affected by Jatigede Reservoir. The results show that the toponymy of villages affected by the Jatigede Reservoir has a diverse structure, reflecting the local wisdom and cultural identity of the community. This research highlights the importance of preserving local language and culture as part of the identity of communities affected by development. This research emphasizes the importance of preserving local culture through systematic documentation of endangered village names. Future research can expand the contribution with a multidisciplinary approach involving anthropology, history, and linguistics experts to understand the socio-cultural impact of toponymy changes.
