Abstract: One of the main tasks in the field of increasing the state's defense capability is to focus on creating highly effective combat- ready Armed Forces of Ukraine, ensuring the priority of their qualitative characteristics and achieving capabilities in accordance with NATO standards. Depending on the test tasks, the specialists involved in conducting research face the question of analyzing the need to involve appropriate testing equipment, which primarily depends on the sufficiency of obtaining the results of providing characteristics and parameters for evaluating the prototype of the AME. During tests, research (experiments), there is an urgent need to measure (register) and obtain information about the parameters of the level of thermal infrared visibility and determine its level. Having analyzed modern methods of measuring temperatures and temperature characteristics, it is possible to draw a conclusion regarding the choice of the optimal method for determining thermal visibility for conducting tests when determining IR visibility. Since materials emit infrared radiation at different speeds, determining the absolute temperature of an object requires significant knowledge of the theory of infrared radiation of materials, as well as the influence of the geometry of the object, the angle of measurement and environmental conditions. However, it should be noted that the existing modern and effective methods for determining the characteristics of the thermal visibility of MET are thermographic methods. They can be used for monitoring during the manufacture and modernization of military equipment and its components and detecting failures during operation. This article reviews and describes the application of thermographic methods to detect defects for various materials and their combinations, making effective decisions based on the results of MET testing. Analysis of the results obtained from the use of thermographic systems indicates the possibility of providing more detailed control over systems and components during the manufacture and modernization of military equipment of different purposes, which will allow detecting defective parts at the early stages of their development or during further operation and minimizes the time spent searching for a malfunction in the system.
