Abstract: In India, there is an increasing apprehension regarding the prevalence of suicidal ideation among students preparing for government examinations. The purpose of this research is to examine the causes of suicidal thoughts among Indian students preparing for competitive exams as well as the effects of stress-reduction strategies. For Hindi-speaking students, the study translated a questionnaire from two standardized scales into Hindi. Distribution techniques encompassed both online using Google Forms and offline through printed copies. The sample comprised 240 pupils actively preparing for competitive government examinations. The research demonstrated a substantial relationship between stress management skills and suicidal thoughts among students. Moreover, the research significantly linked certain demographic traits to suicide ideation. This research concentrates on students preparing for government examinations; subsequent studies could compare this cohort with others and investigate additional factors affecting suicidal tendencies. Research indicates that effective stress management not only directly benefits students but also has the ability to reduce suicidal ideation among their peers. Recommendations derived from study findings may facilitate the creation of targeted interventions designed to alleviate stress and prevent suicide among students in analogous academic environments.
