Synthesis of the Novel Coumarin Probes and Sensitive Detection and Separation of Cations Using Rp-lc and Theoretical Investigations

Type: article
Abstract: Three new UV-visible probes have been synthesized under a Schiff-based reaction by derivatizing the coumarin molecule for sensitive detection of metal ions. All the probes were characterized using different spectroscopic methods. The probes demonstrated exceptional UV-visible absorption properties, with their λmaxes at 308, 318, and 345 nm. The probes showed high UV-visible sensitivity for metal ions, particularly Zn2+, Al3+, Fe3+, Mn2+, and Co2+ ions. The ability of the probes was investigated by testing different concentration samples at the nanomolar scale. The effect of various functional groups in detection was investigated in RP-HPLC analysis. The probe's lowest energy structures and HOMO-LUMO orbitals were developed using DFT calculations. The interactions of metal ions with probe (P1-P3) were investigated by developing 3D structures of complexes using DFT.
