Year: 2025
Type: article
Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: This article provides a summary of a survey to the membership of the Faculty for People with Intellectual Disabilities (FPID), which was conducted in November 2024. Fifty-two people (mostly FPID members) gave feedback. Many respondents said that they valued the sense of connection with other psychologists working with people with learning/intellectual disabilities, and being able to keep up with developments in the speciality. People also gave feedback on what they would like the Faculty to work on in the next year, publishing good practice guidance, responding to policy documents, and organising events for members. Easy to read summary ■ We asked psychologists what they think about being a member of the Faculty for People with Intellectual (or Learning) Disabilities. ■ Fifty-two psychologists working with people with learning disabilities answered the survey. ■ Many people said they liked feeling connected to other psychologists working with people with learning disabilities. They also felt the Faculty helps them to keep up to date with new ways of working with people with learning disabilities. ■ People said they want the Faculty to keep working on writing reports about the best ways to support people with learning disabilities, and to organise events for psychologists to learn more.
