The WAIS V: Changes to test structure and content

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The WAIS-V has been published in the USA but the release date for the UK has not been announced. In this paper the key changes from the WAIS-IV are outlined. As with the last two editions of the WAIS UK the test publishers adapt content to make them relevant to the UK population and conduct a norm comparison study prior to its release. The new test involves the administration of fewer subtests for the computation of the Full-Scale IQ, it has five index scores based on 10 subtests and additional ancillary index scores. Some subtests in the WAIS IV have been removed and some new tests have been introduced to increase the number of subtests to 20. Easy to read summary ■ Diagnosis of Intellectual Disability involves an assessment of intellectual functioning ■ The most used test of intellectual function is the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale ■ A new version of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale has been released in the USA ■ The new version and the main changes made are outlined.
