Performance of Mini Rex Rabbits Raised in a Tropical Environment
Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: Mini rex rabbits come from subtropical areas, so evaluating their performance in Indonesia is interesting. Evaluation of the performance of Mini rex rabbits in tropical climate areas of Indonesia is the purpose of this study. The study was conducted at several farms located in Bogor Regency. The samples used were 52 heads of Mini rex rabbits and 40 heads of rex rabbits. The variables observed were production performance through morphometric measurements, physiological descriptions of the body of Mini rex and microclimate data on the farm. Body size data were analyzed using General Linear Models using SAS ver.9.4 (SAS 2020), and physiological data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the average body weight of male mini rex rabbits were 1547.37 ± 316.99 g/head and females Mini rex rabbits were 1743.10 ± 426.54 g/head, this value is in accordance with the standard body weight of mini rex rabbits which ranges from 1.7-2 kg. The results showed that Mini rex rabbits had morphometric characteristics that were significantly different (p <0.05) compared to rex rabbits. Mini rex rabbits showed good performance and normal activity in environmental conditions with a temperature humidity index of 26.83 + 0.90 and an average temperature of 28.36 ± 1.05 °C and humidity of 64.86 ± 6.94 %.
