Abstract: These authors contributed equally to this workCurrently, numerous factors contribute to noise generation in automotive brake systems, with brake discs being a primary focus. This research paper conducts an in‐depth analysis of the impact of brake disc ventilation rib shape and distribution density on brake noise. Four brake discs with different ventilation rib shapes were selected for simulation analysis, with adjustments made to the distribution density resulting in three different arrangements. The main goal is to identify the optimal shape and distribution density of ventilation ribs for brake discs using the Taguchi method. An analysis of variance (ANOVA) was conducted to determine the impact of ventilation rib shape and distribution density on noise generation. The results showed that the shape of ventilation ribs has a more dominant effect, representing 95.35% of the total influence. The brake disc with cylindrical ventilation ribs and a 10% reduction in distribution achieved the most optimal results compared to other designs.
