Metabolic obesity is an increasingly serious health problem in modern society, closely related to various metabolic diseases, and poses a huge challenge to public health. Research has found that mitochondrial autophagy, as an important process of intracellular autophagy, can effectively maintain the function and quality of mitochondria, thereby affecting the energy metabolism status of cells. Meanwhile, fatty acid oxidation, as an important pathway of energy metabolism, directly participates in regulating energy balance. Recent studies have shown that there is a complex interplay between mitochondrial autophagy and fatty acid oxidation, which may play an important role in the development of metabolic obesity. However, there are still some problems in the current research in this field, including insufficient understanding of the interaction mechanism between the two and limitations in related clinical applications. This article will systematically explore the relationship and potential mechanisms between mitochondrial autophagy and fatty acid oxidation in metabolic obesity, and summarize the latest research results, aiming to provide a theoretical basis for future research and clinical interventions.
