In response to requests for learning and work experience opportunities, a program for medical refugee students was created at an academic hospital in the Netherlands. Aims To share our experiences and lessons learned in establishing and delivering educational programs for medically trained refugees. Description In the summers of 2022 and 2023, a seven-week educational program consisting of clinical observations and classes was designed and executed for refugee students. The goal was to provide refugees with a temporary educational setting conducive to learning, networking, and exposure to an academic environment. Conclusions Based on the learning needs of participants and the context of teaching hospitals, meaningful programs can be designed for refugee students with important organizational and cultural considerations and conditions for successful implementation. These programs offer a unique learning opportunity for hosting institutions to create and provide an inclusive environment.
