Impact of goat manure bokashi and NPK fertilizer on shallot (Allium cepa L.) growth and yield

Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: One of the horticultural products used as a base for seasoning food is shallot (Allium cepa L.). Unstable shallot production is unable to meet the yearly rise in market demand. A contributing factor to low shallot yield is dwindling soil fertility. The proper dosage of goat manure bokashi (organic fertilizer) and NPK (inorganic fertilizer) and can be used to increase soil fertility. The purpose of this study was to ascertain how shallot growth and production were affected by the use of goat manure bokashi and NPK fertilizer. From January to March 2024, this study was carried out at the Agroecotechnology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Malikussaleh, and Paloh Lada Village, Dewantara District, North Aceh Regency. Three replications and a two-factor Randomized Block Design (RBD) were employed in this research. Goat manure bokashi, which came at three levels—B0 (0 tons/ha), B1 (20 tons/ha), and B2 (40 tons/ha)—was the first factor. NPK fertilizer, which came in three levels—N0 (0 kg/ha), N1 (250 kg/ha), and N2 (500 kg/ha)—was the second factor. The findings demonstrated that NPK fertilizer and goat manure bokashi might boost shallot growth and production. Wet weight and dry weight of bulbs per clump, wet weight and dry weight of bulbs per plot, and plant production per hectare are the primary indicators of plant yield that show this. Goat manure bokashi has the potential to decrease the amount of NPK fertilizer (an inorganic fertilizer), specifically in the B1N1 (bokashi goat manure (20 tons/ha) plus 250 kg/ha of NPK fertiliz) treatment.
