The dynamics of microclimate in red lettuce (Lactuca sativa var. red rapids) land due to embedded biochar application

Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: Climate change has an impact on increasing the frequency and intensity of extreme weather, changes in rainfall patterns, and increasing temperatures and sea levels. Climate change has a negative impact on the agricultural sector. The negative impact on plants can be minimized by using biochar as mitigation in the microclimate around the plants. This studied examines the treatment of embedded biochar on soil temperature in red lettuce plants. The research data used a non-factorial randomized block design with 9 treatments, 3 replications and 4 samples. The treatments consisted of control, 10 t ha−1 wood waste biochar, inorganic fertilizer, 10 t ha−1 cow manure, 10 t ha−1 wood waste biochar + inorganic fertilizer, 10 t ha−1wood waste biochar + 10 t ha−1 cow manure, 10 t ha−1 wood waste embedded biochar, 10 t ha−1 wood waste embedded biochar + inorganic fertilizer, 10 t ha−1 wood waste embedded biochar + 10 t ha−1 cow manure. The results of this study indicate that embedded biochar significantly affects soil temperature at 0 and 10 cm. The best treatment with the lowest temperature was the treatment of 10 t ha−1 wood waste embedded biochar + 10 t ha−1 cow manure.
