Estrous performance of Balinese cows at different body condition scores and synchronization methods

Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: This study aimed to determine the estrus performance of Bali cattle in different body size conditions and synchronization methods. The method used was a randomized block design with the first factor being the body condition score (BCS) of Bali cattle (3, 3.5, 4) (n=27) and the second factor was the synchronization method (one-time injection of PGF2α 5 ml, injection of PGF2α 5 ml on the first day and additional injection of PGF2α 5 ml on the 11th day, injection of PGF2α 5 ml on the first day followed by HCG on the 4th day). The parameters observed were the percentage of estrus, onset of estrus, duration of estrus and intensity of estrus. The results showed that synchronization using PGF2α on the first day plus PGF2α on the 11th day resulted in faster estrus compared to synchronization using 1 injection of PGF2α and combined injection of PGF2α with HCG. All Bali cattle had the same estrus intensity. All BCS levels produced the same estrus performance. Conclusion; The synchronization method by administering PGF2α twice to Bali cattle was more effective in accelerating estrus by 39 ± 8.19 hours compared to the single PGF2α method and the PGF2α plus hCG method.
