Charge Localization Induced by Lattice Distortion in Corrugated Carbon Nanotubes for Multiple‐Scenario Electromagnetic Response
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are promising electromagnetic‐response materials owing to their exceptional electrical conductivity, thermal stability, and tunable dielectric properties. However, their performance is hindered by their unavoidable aggregation and limited dielectric‐loss capacity, which cannot be overcome via conventional chemical modifications such as oxidation and carboxylation. In this study, a spatial charge‐confinement strategy induced by lattice distortion is proposed to optimize the charge distribution and enhance the dielectric‐loss capacity of CNTs. Multi‐wrinkled carbon nanotubes (CNT/FeCo) with periodic interfaces are synthesized via a catalytic reaction between metal ions and dicyandiamide. The wrinkled structure introduces abundant localized dielectric polarization regions, whereas lattice distortions at the corrugation and nanoparticle–tube interfaces enable stress‐driven modulation of the electrical properties, thus improving the dielectric performance by 170%. Embedding CNT/FeCo into a polydimethylsiloxane matrix yielded effective dispersion, thus resulting in a high‐performance absorber with a reflection loss of −56.71 dB at a thickness of 1.5 mm and a low filler content. The composite exhibits good tensile resistance, hydrophobicity, and electromagnetic‐response visualization capabilities, thus rendering it ideal for high‐power electronics and stealth technology. This study highlights the critical role of lattice distortion and wrinkled structures in advancing CNT‐based absorbers, thus offering a lightweight, durable, and multifunctional solution for highly efficient electromagnetic response.
