A educação profissional técnica de nível médio no território fluminense e o enfrentamento da crise ecológica

Abstract: Despite the warnings issued about the serious consequences arising from the inappropriate use of natural resources since the 19th century, we reached the third decade of the 21st century using production models still based on the irrational exploitation of these resources. But if the warnings were not enough to carry out the necessary socio-productive changes, the intensification of adversities related to the socio-ecological crisis in the first quarter of the 21st century have been frightening populations in different territories of the planet. In this context, and with the aim of contributing to the organization and management of the provision of professional education courses in the state of Rio de Janeiro, this study presents data related to technical courses that registered enrollments in the Rio de Janeiro territory in the period 2019-2023 and which present, among their purposes, the training of workers committed to protecting the planet's ecosystems and qualified to face the consequences of the ecological crisis. The analyzes carried out demonstrated the non-existence or low number of enrollments in strategic courses, in addition to the low territorial capillarity of the offer, indicating an insufficient supply of these courses in the territory of Rio de Janeiro.
