Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: This study investigates the family-related and work-related factors influencing Work-Life Balance among academic staff at public universities in Sri Lanka. A structured questionnaire was administered to 400 participants, selected through two-stage stratified proportional random sampling. The Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach was employed to identify the key factors affecting Work-Life Balance. The structural model results reveal that family responsibilities and support are significant family-related factors impacting Work-Life Balance. In contrast, work-related factors such as interpersonal relationships, satisfaction with workload and working conditions, and supervisor support significantly influence Work-Life Balance. These findings highlight the importance of recognizing and addressing the role of family support and positive work-related factors in promoting Work-Life Balance and overall well-being among academic staff. By creating a supportive environment that acknowledges these factors, individuals and organizations can take steps to foster Work-Life Balance and improve overall quality of life.
