Abstract: More and more institutions are implementing the plain language standard. This trend is manifested not only in public administration institutions, but also in the banking sector or the academia. This raises the question whether the need to simplify communication is also observable at lower education levels. The paper aims at presenting the results of a comprehensibility study involving both an actual and a simplified extract from selected secondary-school statutes. To that end, the author used a natural language processing tool (StyloMetrix) and methods of legal text validation. This made it possible to point out possible difficulties in the validation of school documentation, as well as to answer the question about the need to implement the standard of plain Polish in school environment.
