Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This visual essay of 10 images and sensory poems explores daily experience walking 1.2 km from home to work in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. It aims to unpick the challenges that shape the underlying disparities and inequities in access to and participation in walking at the street level. In particular, we focus on connections to public health and wellbeing and planetary health issues. We propose practical steps towards solutionary approaches for achieving mobility justice for pedestrians in Ho Chi Minh City and potentially other urban areas in comparable compact, dense, and mixed-use cities, particularly in the Global South.
