Digital Economy Promotes the Green Development of Manufacturing Industry:Theoretical Mechanism and Practical Paths

Abstract: Against the backdrop of increasingly severe global environmental issues, intensifying resource constraints, and growing demands for sustainable social development, the global manufacturing industry is undergoing a new round of industrial upgrading and transformation. Empowering the green transformation of manufacturing with the digital economy has become an important direction for industrial upgrading and a significant driving force for achieving high-quality development. With the country' s increased efforts in digital economy construction, China' s digital economy has developed rapidly, and the digital governance system has become increasingly complete. The mechanism by which the digital economy promotes the green transformation of manufacturing is mainly reflected in aspects such as digital technology promotion, digital talent drive, resource allocation optimization, market supply and demand guidance, and government regulation. Although manufacturing enterprises have achieved energy conservation, emission reduction, cost reduction, and efficiency improvement through digital empowerment during the process of green and lowcarbon transformation, and the industrial structure has tended to rational adjustment, they still face problems such as unbalanced digital infrastructure construction, insufficient integration of digital and real economies, and the need for strengthened top-level design. Therefore, to meet the challenges of achieving the “dual carbon” goals, measures should be taken to further increase investment in digital infrastructure, improve the market-based allocation of digital elements, promote digital technological innovation in enterprises, and strengthen the supervision of enterprises' green production.
