Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Plate‐lattice metamaterials are a new class of materials with outstanding mechanical properties. Inspired by the atomic distribution patterns of natural crystal unit cells, this study independently designed and fabricated DMSC (diamond and simple cubic plate lattice metamaterials) composite structures using Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) technology with PLA‐CF material. To investigate their mechanical properties and deformation mechanisms, isotropic optimization design, quasi‐static compression experiments, simulation modeling, and comprehensive theoretical studies of mechanical performance were conducted. The results highlight the advantages of diamond‐based plate lattice structures, and based on these findings, isotropic optimization of the DMSC composite lattice structure was performed, which outperforms traditional structures in mechanical performance. Through theoretical analysis and exploration of the influence of size factors, key mechanical performance parameters of the DMSC structure, such as specific energy absorption (SEA) and plateau stress, were characterized and summarized. Additionally, the unique deformation characteristics of the DMSC structure were analyzed and summarized. Theoretical analysis further validated that plate‐lattice structures can surpass the Hashin‐Shtrikman upper limit, demonstrating the advantages of this design in enhancing stiffness. Highlights The diamond plate lattice exceeds the Hashin‐Shtrikman limit. The composite plate‐lattice structure surpasses traditional structures. Pioneering theoretical analysis of SEA in plate lattices. Structural composites significantly optimize isotropy. Exceptional deformation uniformity and superior mechanical performance.
