Abstract: On the Nature of Neutrons Ø Neutrons are uncharged and interact via nuclear-not electromagnetic-forces.Ø Energy spectrum: thermal, epithermal, and fast ranges.Ø Scattering, absorption, and moderation influence neutron behavior, and instrument readings.Ø In free air, environmental conditions (humidity, temp, pressure) affect how they slow down and scatter. ØWater attenuators moderate, stabilize, and harmonize neutron fields.
